Test Two Separate Wall Switches To Same Light

Connect each of the two switched hot wires typically one black one red to the switched hot screw on a switch.
Test two separate wall switches to same light. Use a wire nut to connect the panel white neutral to the neutral wire going to the fan light. I wired the circuit just like it was wired before. In the fan light junction box connect each switched hot to one of the hot wires on the fan light. 2 hold the tester within inch of the screw terminals.
Remove the switch cover plate by unscrewing its two small screws to test whether it is safe to proceed to replace or rewire a wall switch. My question is how do i wire this up so that either switch will control the light without having to touch the other switch. One switch will be located outside on the porch and the other switch will be on the inside wall next to the door. An existing wall dimmer switch must be replaced with a single on off wall switch before installing a hunter fan to ensure consistent power flow from the switch to the fan.
I know this can be done but i don t have a clue how to connect the switches to the fixture. Same connection for the ground. Touch the other probe to the colored wires one by one. The ground wire on the other hand must connect to both switches and the easiest way to do this is to make a pigtail as you did with the hot wires.
Find a different brand that doesn t mind multiples installed on the same switch is the only advice i have to give. It depends upon what type of wiring. The white or neutral wires bypass the switch so the one coming from the power source and the one from the light get spliced and capped in the box. Set your multimeter to at least 110 volts.
If you only have a two wire lead from the location of the existing w. And what you mean by a dual switch. Hold one of the probes on a known ground such as a metal outlet box or a bare ground wire. I replaced one of the switches with a new one and i replaced the second switch with a single pole dimmer.
There is one more switch right beside that switch that powers a different light. I assume you want to operate the fan and the light from separate wall switches from the same location. The wire that registers voltage is the hot wire and the common wire for this box. I would like to have the 2 flood lights on separate switches maybe it s called a stacked switch but not sure.
Connect the two red wires from the two switches together with a wire nut. A single wall switch controls the power to the fan and light together whereas a dual wall switch has two separate switches one for the fan and the other for the light. I have two switches for two separate lights in the same wall box.
